Pulmonary hypoplasia
Pulmonary hypoplasia refers to a lack of development of the lung. This is noticeable in size and volume reduction of one or both lungs, and is often the cause of stillbirth.
Causes can be found in disorders of development in the womb, for example, by insufficient amniotic fluid, insufficient space in the incubator or disturbed double-furrow movement.
A pulmonary hypoplasia can also occur as a symptom of a syndrome.
Lung hypoplasia refers to a lack of development of the (fatal) lung. This is also noticeable in size and volume reduction of one or both lung lungs. It is often the cause of stillbirth. Causes are found in disturbances of development in the womb, for example due to inadequate amniotic fluid, inadequate space in the brood basket or gestured double-furrow movement.
However, pulmonary hypoplasia can also be a symptom of a syndrome.
