Onychauxis

Onychauxis is a thickening of the nail of the fingers or toes without deformity. Usually, traumas, circulatory disorders or increased pressure on the nail, for example, due to too tight footwear, are the cause.

Onychauxis is associated with diabetes mellitus or psoriasis. Characteristic are yellowish / white thickenings. The thickened nails can be painful. Failure to treat the nail may result in a hematoma or an ulcer formation.
