Lawrence syndrome
Lawrence syndrome, also known as 'acquired generalized lipodystrophy', is characterized by insulin resistance and associated increased cardiovascular risk.
In addition, patients suffer from loss of subcutaneous adipose tissue in the arms, legs, palms, soles and face. A genetic factor is assumed to be the cause of involvement, for example an infection (such as tuberculosis).
Women are more affected than men.
