GOOD syndrome
GOOD syndrome describes an immunodeficiency syndrome associated with thymomas. In addition, hypogammaglobulinemia, as well as an increased susceptibility to infection belong to the characteristic signs of the disease. The manifestation period is usually in middle or late adulthood.
Infections with opportunistic pathogens can affect the skin as well as the respiratory tract or cause gastrointestinal symptoms. Patients usually suffer from a range of nonspecific symptoms, including weight loss, anorexia, fatigue, weakness and decreased performance.
In those affected, the complete absence of B lymphocytes or a greatly reduced B cell count and defects in the T cell series can be detected.
