Global Outbreak Update: Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Confirmed and probable cases in North Kivu and Ituri provinces, totaling 11 Health Zones affected.

• Status: January 17th, 2019
• Regions: Confirmed and probable cases in North Kivu and Ituri provinces. 11 Health Zones affected.
• From December 26th, 2018 to January 15th, 2019, there have been 79 new reported cases in these 11 Health Zones.
• The WHO recommends neighboring provinces and countries to increment monitoring and preparedness strategies. 
• The WHO does not consider it necessary, however, to apply travel or trade restrictions to the DRC given current information. Travelers should seek medical advice and practice good hygiene.
